Dr. Tare C. Gurira
I graduated from Grinnell College in the small town of Grinnell, Iowa with a Bachelor’s degree in General Science and a concentration in Biology. I had intended to become a psychiatrist initially. A colleague of mine whose father and stepfather were both Chiropractors began talking to me about Chiropractic during my junior year in college and the intrigue was born. I began searching for every bit of information I could find on the topic.
There were several facts and concepts that created the passion that I now have about the philosophy, science and art of chiropractic. The concept of the relationship between structure and function; the fact that your nervous system via the spinal cord controls virtually EVERY function in your body; and finally the fact that correcting and properly maintaining the structure that houses and protects that spinal cord helps your body function better, all had a powerful impact on me. Soon after conducting my research I began applying to schools across the country. I knew that this was the type of care and service that I wanted to give. This was what I was SUPPOSED to be doing.
I went to Palmer College of Chiropractic West in San Jose, CA and graduated in March of 2000. The first couple of offices I worked for after graduation were personal injury offices in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. Although the doctors that I worked for taught me a lot and were and are tremendous doctors and people, my heart was in corrective and family/wellness care.
I played football at Grinnell College during my sophomore and junior years and have also been involved in Tae Kwon Do for a number of years. Athletics and exercise have always been an integral part of my life. My background in sports sparked my interest in helping patients with sports related injuries. My past experiences working in Personal Injury Clinics forced me to be extremely proficient in helping those who had been hurt in motor vehicle accidents or hurt on the job. My understanding of the relationship between structure and function drew me to my focus on corrective care. My love and respect for the family unit and for my community lead me to implement Wellness care. All of the above is what inspired me to open Infinite Wellness Chiropractic Center.
